Reading early results before revenue matures

Revenue often arrives well after a pilot starts. Until it does, leading indicators give you an honest early read on whether Scowtt is moving things in the right direction.

Why results take time to mature

Conversion lag is the time between a lead arriving and its final outcome, like a purchase. Some sales cycles run 60 to 75 days or longer, so leads generated today might not purchase for two months. If you judge a campaign on last week's revenue, you're mostly seeing outcomes that haven't happened yet.

  • Scores reach your campaigns soon after a lead arrives, so platforms don't have to wait for the final outcome to learn.
  • Pilot KPIs are usually earlier steps that can be measured within one to two weeks, such as a booked meeting or qualified opportunity.
  • Results are compared once each group of leads has had enough time to mature.

What to look at early

  • Lead quality: Is a higher share of leads scoring well?
  • Mid-funnel steps: Are more leads reaching steps like a booked meeting, showed appointment or qualified opportunity?
  • Cost per qualified outcome: What does each of those steps cost, compared with BAU?
  • Spend and pacing: Are both arms spending as planned, so the comparison is fair?

Your first 30 days

  • Weeks 1 and 2: learning: Ad platforms adjust to the new signal, and spend and volume can move around. No performance difference is expected yet, so it's best to avoid other campaign changes.
  • Week 3: stabilizing: Performance usually settles as the platforms learn which audiences produce higher-value leads. Your Sales Rep or Account Manager will flag anything unexpected in signal volume or pacing.
  • Around day 30: first look: We review early indicators such as lead score mix, mid-funnel conversion and pacing. Lift typically starts to show here, while final outcomes like revenue are still maturing.

Moving to revenue over time

The final readout comes around day 60, as downstream results mature. Once a program is running and enough outcomes have come in, typically a few months in, the model and the KPI can shift toward revenue and purchase ROAS.
